Interests and Clubs

STEM

I am interested in STEM, particularly math, science, and engineering. I am thinking of majoring in engineering because it combines my love for math and science as well as my interest in solving challenging problems.

Women in STEM Club Board Member

Women in STEM is a club at my school that is also part of the national WiSTEM organization. WiSTEM is committed to helping girls and women combat the gender gap and pursue their interests in STEM. I am on the Board, and my role is Mentorship Head. I pair high school students with mentor students at the University of Chicago that have similar interests. I also plan weekly club meetings and mentorship events with guest speakers and engaging activities.

Math Team

I have scored for my school multiple times in the ICTM math contest in the individual and team events.

Yale Young Global Scholars - Innovations in Science and Technology Summer Program 2021

I applied and was admitted to the Yale Young Global Scholars Innovations in Science and Technology program for this summer (2021) to learn more about science and technology and how to use it to solve problems and challenges. It was a virtual course.

University of Chicago Summer Session- Biotechnology for the 21st Century Immersion Course (2020)

I applied and was admitted to the University of Chicago Summer Session Immersion Course for Biotechnology for the 21st century. I attended the course online, and I learned more about biology, engineering, and scientific lab work. I also learned how to use applied science to solve problems, and I got to learn about fields I may want to pursue in college and beyond.

Service

I love teaching kids, and this year I volunteered to teach young kids and do community service projects such as making and packing lunches for students in underprivileged communities.

I also am a member of FemSTEM club, in which we encourage young girls to pursue STEM by making teaching videos. In addition, I tutor math and English for Math Buddies.

Athletics

In addition to fencing outside of school, I am very involved athletically in school; I am the lead girl runner on the varsity cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track teams at my high school. Throughout my life, I have earned a number of athletic achievements and school awards, which can be viewed under the other athletics/achievements page.

Free Time

When I have free time, I like to read, bake, travel, ski, and spend time with my friends.
